 PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

AECOM, Chelmsford, MA, 2012 – present

Project Hydrogeologist: Currently I am involved in both municipal and private water supply development/re-development projects within Massachusetts and New Hampshire. As the project hydrogeologist I work in direct partnership with the senior hydrogeologist, as well as spending significant time working directly with the client and our subcontractors. My projects range from simple test well drilling investigations to more complex drilling programs with multiple locations and prolonged pumping tests. Client sites are primarily overburden gravel-pack wells, with a few fractured bedrock sites. I also assist towns in developing their well cleaning and rehabilitation schedules, have recently finished running a long-term wellfield monitoring program, and am involved in multiple new source approval projects.

Project Geologist/Project Manager: Past responsibilities at AECOM include project management for a large national retail petroleum company, all aspects of ASTM Phase I and II work, field investigations and technical task management for other regional clients, and guiding sites through the planning, execution, and regulatory closure aspects of UST pull and replacement activities in Maine and New Hampshire.

Bay Area Earthquake Alliance, US Geological Survey (USGS), Menlo Park, CA, 2009 – 2011

Program Coordinator: Core member of the steering committee involved in all aspects of running the Alliance. Represented the USGS at a wide variety of hazard awareness events including community preparedness fairs. Regularly gave educational seminars about basic earthquake geology and seismic preparedness to a range of public groups. Member of the interim steering committee of the Earthquake Country Alliance (ECA). Active in regional hazard committee at the Association of Bay Area Governments (ABAG).

Geosciences Department, San Francisco State University (SFSU), San Francisco, CA, 2008 – 2010

Graduate Teaching Assistant: Taught five semesters of a weekly laboratory section in introductory Oceanography. Significantly modified the standard department lesson plans to better meet the needs of a diverse student body. Designed new field trips, which were tested by other teaching assistants and integrated into their curriculum. Voluntarily completed a two-semester National Science Foundation-funded program (SEPAL) designed to teach scientists to be superior science teachers.

Seismic Hazards Program, Association of Bay Area Governments (ABAG), Oakland, CA, 06/2008 – 10/2008

Program Intern: Worked as assistant to the director of regional seismic hazards program. Coordinated all aspects of the initial pilot soft-story building survey for Oakland, CA including designing the survey form, organizing volunteers, and all contact with participating local agencies and professional organizations.

Romig Engineers, San Carlos, CA, 2006 – 2007

Senior Staff Geologist: Sole geologist for a small geotechnical engineering firm. Primary responsibilities were field-based and included geotechnical soil characterization, landslide repair and fault trenching projects, as well as securing permits and permission agreements for site work

ENSR/AECOM, Westford, MA, and Alameda, CA, 2004 – 2006

Staff Geologist: Conducted diverse fieldwork at a variety of petroleum and solvent-impacted sites. Proficient in Geoprobe, hollow stem auger, drive and wash, and air hammer drilling. Worked on-site in Illinois for four months at an EPA-managed project as the head of the vapor-mitigation crew.
